Something interesting has been happening over the past few weeks.
The Breaking Point Series has started to build real traction with readers in the United States, with more people discovering the books and, more importantly, continuing through multiple titles in the series.
What began as a collection of high-concept techno-thrillers — each exploring a single question or decision — is now starting to connect as a wider body of work. Readers aren’t just picking up one story. They’re moving from one to the next, following the ideas as they evolve.
At its core, the series is built around a simple concept:
What happens when one decision changes everything?
Each book explores that idea from a different angle — from hidden systems and memory manipulation to the possibility of altering the past itself. The stories are designed to stand alone, but together they build something larger — a world where technology and human choice collide in unexpected ways.
My background in financial services and technology, spanning more than 25 years, has always influenced how I approach storytelling. I’ve spent much of my career working with systems designed to predict, control, and manage outcomes — and that naturally raises questions about what happens when those systems go further than intended.
Before writing fiction, I also worked in media as a financial expert, including appearances on BBC programmes such as Property Virgins and Right on the Money, as well as writing a national newspaper column under the name “Debt Buster”. That experience shaped how I think about communication, clarity, and the real-world impact of complex ideas.
Now, through Fenton Writes, the focus is on telling stories that feel both entertaining and grounded — stories that reflect the world we’re already moving into.
The recent increase in readership, particularly through Kindle Unlimited, suggests that these ideas are resonating. Readers are not only discovering the series but choosing to continue it.
That’s the part I find most interesting.
The Breaking Point Series is available now on Amazon, and the story is still expanding.
